Tara Thompson

Associate Pastor

Born in Pennsylvania, Tara moved to the sunshine state as an eighth grader. As a faithful Pittsburgh sports fan, Tara hoped to return to PA for college. Instead God led her to Jacksonville and the University of North Florida where she earned a degree in Psychology. While at UNF, Tara interned with St. Johns’ youth ministry and served as a Stephen minister.

Tara also has a deep love for mission work. She has shared the love and hope of Jesus Christ with others in Haiti, Israel, Mexico, Thailand, and Zimbabwe. A graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where she earned her Master’s of Divinity degree, Tara has been Associate Pastor at SJPC since 2005. With experience in teaching and discipleship, Tara sees her ministry as “equipping and empowering the people of the church to do the work of the church.” To this end, Tara seeks ways to provide faith-building experiences, which are both formative and fun.
