Kevin Crainshaw

Associate for Worship and the Arts

Kevin enjoys baseball, technology and diet Coke. He also likes taking his wife, Susan, to the home improvement store and spending lots of time loving on and playing with their children (Graham -18/ senior, Ashley-15/sophmore, Abbey-9/4th  grade).

Kevin and Susan moved their family to Jacksonville, FL where Kevin joined the staff of St. Johns Presbyterian Church as Associate for Worship and the Arts in May of 2007. His responsibilities include service planning, leading and directing the choir and 2nd service worship team and overseeing the technical area. His experience also includes directing bands, orchestras, cantatas, Christmas and Easter musicals.

Kevin holds a B.A. in music composition from the University of Kansas. After college he opened up The Music Academy, which was a fun and educational teaching studio in the Kansas City area. Kevin worked in the Yamaha music education system during college and used those skills, along with his pedagogy training, to write a teaching method encompassing keyboard technique and repertoire, ear training and composition. Kevin is currently working toward a Master’s of Arts in Worship Studies degree through Liberty University (online).

Kevin has been in ministry since 1988 and has served in a Full-time Associate Pastor or Associate for Worship and Arts since 1996. Kevin enjoys ministry work and seeing people gain traction and move forward in their spiritual and personal lives. He sees a large portion of his ministry as one who creates an atmosphere for people to worship and to prepare the soil of the heart through song for the Word of God to be planted deeply into the lives of the congregation.
